When you think of Indonesia, you hardly think fashion. Yet the newest girls on the fashion blogging block are putting the South East Asian country on the map with their cheap finds and indie picks.

“The Indonesian fashion culture is definitely growing.” says Heidy of blog Fashion-Maverick. “Lots of young Indonesian designers are rising here. The best part is that they are bringing out collections in their own identity which then becomes inspiration for fashion conscious Indonesians.”

Look away now if you are easily made jealous – almost everything pictured on Heidy (above) was bought for the costly sum of Rp.10.000… the equivalent of $1. Amongst many of the cities in Indonesia, the one stands out the most with the fashion crowd is Bandung.

“Bandung is a great place to start,” says Lauretha, blogger at myrrh goldframe, of third largest city in Indonesia. “They have got such a great urban youth culture.”

Big right now are harem pants and bright printed t shirts with piles of wooden accessories and ankle boots, but the Indo crowd aren’t afraid to experiment.

“Indonesian’s prefer to mix things up,” says Cia of MiStoryMiLife blog. “We love mixing international high street shops like Topshop or luxury brands with our favourite local brands, which are mostly indie labels.”
